Newport Harbor - Fort AdamsFort Adams was built to protect Newport and the approach to Providence. Although the fort was obsolete by the time it was completed, it was active from 1824 until the 1950's.. It is open for tours and hosts special events such as a Halloween 'haunted fort", civil war reenactments, car shows, dog shows, overnight youth stays in the barrack and musical festivals.
As long as your event is appropriate, you can even rent the fort.
