Museums and Historical Sites in Newport Rhode Island

One could easily spend a week visiting the various museums and historical sites in Newport - In addition to the time required to visit the mansions. It is a very old town with a great deal of history. If you are going to visit during the off-season, keep in mind that some of the museums are open seasonally and close for part of the winter.

Fort Adams is located in the Fort Adams Point State Park overlooking Newport Harbor. The fort dates from 1824. The fort is a great example of military engineering. There are a number of events held during the year on the park grounds. It is one of the sites you will see when taking a tour of Newport Harbor
