The Inn at Castle Hill

The Inn at Castle Hill Inn and Restaurant is located off Ocean Drive. It is in a magnificent Victorian Mansion overlooking the sound.

If you are going there from downtown Newport, you might want to take Bellevue Avenue to Ocean Drive. Ocean Drive provides some spectacular scenic views. Look for the driveway leading to Castle Hill.

When you get to the end of the driveway, you will find ample parking. If you are not in a hurry, take some time to enjoy the view. If you walk toward the water, you will see the lighthouse which is one of the lodging rooms. (be careful of the cliff). Looking northward, you can see the bridge and Newport Harbor.

The Inn is a beautiful old Victorian Building. There are several dining rooms. One of our favorites is the Sunset Room  with it's beautiful view of the sound and harbor.

We stopped in for lunch. The dress was casual and the service was excellent. They are kid friendly. The luncheon menu ranges from club sandwiches (with goat cheese) to salmon or scallops.

Summary

If you are staying in Newport, it is definitely worth a drive out to the Inn at Castle Hill for the view and the food. It's also a relief to be able to park without a long search and walk right into the restaurant.

If you go, be sure to bring your camera. Also, check out the history of the Inn that is hanging in the entry way. The place has a lot of historical significance.
